The approach
Attack the cost from both ends
Prevent the injuries that drive claims
Your WCB premium rate follows your claims. The first way to bring it down is to find and control the hazards actually driving your injuries.
Manage the claims you have
Day-to-day claims management so nothing slips through the cracks — cost monitoring, modified-work plans, and reviews when a decision looks wrong.
Protect your premium rate
Active case management keeps claim costs in check and protects your rate — the outcome that lands on your bottom line.
Salient has managed 400+ WCB claims— the kind of depth that protects your rate and that a first safety hire simply doesn't have.
Note: Salient provides employer-side claims management. For the Government of Alberta WCB portal or worker login, visit WCB-Alberta directly.

Questions
WCB claims & cost FAQ
How can I reduce my WCB premiums in Alberta?
Your WCB premium rate is driven largely by your claims history and costs. Reducing premiums comes from two directions: preventing injuries in the first place, and managing the claims you do have so they cost less and close sooner. We work both sides.
What is employer-side WCB case management?
It's managing your WCB claims from the employer's perspective — making sure claims are handled correctly, costs are controlled, injured workers get appropriate return-to-work plans, and decisions that look wrong get reviewed. The goal is the right outcome for the worker at the lowest justified cost to you.
Why does claims management affect my premiums?
Your WCB premium rate is tied to your claims experience. Claims that are mismanaged or left to run drive up costs, which pushes your rate up. Active case management keeps those costs in check and protects your rate.
We've had a bad claims year. Can you still help?
Yes — that's often when employers see us. We look at what drove the costs, put controls in place to prevent repeats, and manage the open claims to limit further cost, with the goal of bringing your rate back down over time.
